The Wasting went through a lot of cutting. We wrote the first draft, read it through, and thought it overran, so we trimmed it. When it went back and forth between Claire and I and producer Ian Farrinfton and director Nicola Bryant, it just kept running long. In the end, a lot of trimming and rewriting brought it down to 70 minutes, Most of the plot that was lost concerned the plague storyline.
